Yeshivas Lubavitch Tiferes Yisroel (YLTY) in Beit Shemesh is wrapping up an extraordinary year of growth, resilience, and renewal. Despite the immense challenges of this year—including the tense 12-day Iran war—the Yeshiva continued to flourish, thanks to its dedicated staff and determined talmidim.

One of the highlights of the end of the year was a powerful Shabbaton in Mitzpe Ramon, which gave the bochurim a chance to recharge spiritually in a calm and uplifting environment. Shortly afterward, the talmidim returned to be by the Rebbe ahead of Gimmel Tammuz, taking with them the momentum of a deeply impactful zman.

From Gimmel Tammuz until Yud-Beis Tammuz, all the staff of YLTY engaged in a comprehensive review of the entire Yeshiva system and approach. Every facet—from curriculum to accountability structures, from hanhaga to mentorship—was revisited and strengthened, in preparation for what promises to be a transformative and impactful upcoming year.

As part of this forward-looking initiative, YLTY is proud to announce the appointment of Rabbi Elchonon Cohen as its new Rosh Yeshiva. A respected mechanech and seasoned Maggid Shiur Iyun, Rabbi Cohen brings with him decades of experience progressing motivated bochurim in advanced and sophisticated Gemora Iyun learning. Rabbi Cohen has a reputation for explaining with clarity, for his Chassidishe warmth, and a deep commitment to the personal growth of every talmid.

Rabbi Cohen’s appointment is a unique milestone in YLTY’s continued evolution. Since its founding, the Yeshiva has operated on the belief that each bochur must be met where he is—personally and educationally—and then guided to surpass every expectation. This vision is being brought to life with an emphasis this year on mentorship frameworks (personal hashpoh), tighter time management (personal accountability), and a renewed focus on personal Avoda and Hiskashrus.

“Our vision is assist each bochur to have their own ambitious goals and depth of learning in Nigleh and Chassidus, and to cultivate their own inner personal connection,” said Menahel Rabbi Chaim Moss. “The point of departure for real growth is honesty and a pnimiyusdiker (deeply internalized) approach—not only to navigate challenges more effectively, but because it helps uncover and build talents and strengths that may have gone unnoticed, and channel them into tangible day-to-day vibrancy in Torah and Chassidus. Rabbi Cohen embodies this approach in everything he teaches and lives.”

With a strong leadership team, renewed energy, and deep commitment to the Rebbe’s vision, YLTY enters this new year with great anticipation. The groundwork has been laid for continued success, and the excitement among talmidim, parents, and hanhala is palpable.
